  • Discectomy

Surgical removal of the protruding portion of the disc that’s putting pressure on the nerve and causing pain. A very common and successful operation in the right patients.

  • Nerve Root Injections

A lower risk and quick recovery procedure that can really help control pain and reduce nerve irritation.

  • Decompression

Removing compressing bone and thickened ligaments that squash the nerves and cause pain, giving the nerves an environment in which they can recover.

Disc Prolapse​

Sometimes referred to as a ‘slipped disc’, these can be very painful. Thankfully there are treatment options to support and facilitate recovery that I would be happy to explain. These include pain controlling injections as well as surgery.

Discectomy

Surgical removal of the protruding portion of the disc that’s putting pressure on the nerve and causing pain. A very common and successful operation in the right patients.

Sciatica​

Pain going down the leg from irritation of the sciatic nerve. There can be several causes for this and Mr Marjoram can explore and explain these as well as facilitation of treatment plans.

Back Pain​

A very common and often very troublesome problem. The treatment options can vary depending on the underlying cause. Mr Marjoram can initiate appropriate investigation followed by honest explanations about the success and risks of the different options to make a decision that appropriate for you.

Spinal Stenosis​

Spine Deformity​

A change in shape of the spine can have many causes. This is a complex problem and as result some of the solutions are also very complex. Often a team approach is required here, working with a team of other consultant colleagues but also involving specialist pain management, physiotherapy and other therapies Mr Marjoram and the team can guide you through the treatment process.

Scoliosis​

There are several cause of scoliosis and as a condition there is still understanding to be developed. Treatment options can vary significantly and a bespoke approach is always needed.

The vast majority of spine trauma is treated in the NHS who are well set up for the unique challenges that trauma can pose. Traumatic injuries to the spine can have wide reaching and long term effects.

Spine Tumours​

Sadly it is not uncommon for tumours to spread to the spine because of its rich blood supply and central position within the body. Mr Marjoram has trained in the bone tumour centre in the Royal orthopaedic hospital. Spine Infection​

Infections anywhere in the body can spread to the spine through the blood. The treatment often involves long courses of antibiotic therapy with close monitoring.

A term to describe a localised deformity of the spine where one bone moves out of place in relation to its neighbour, the treatment depending on the cause and the symptoms – expert assessment is key here.
