My philosophy is to guide you through the decision-making process giving you the information you need to be able to make the decision that’s right for you, but being honest if surgery isn’t likely to provide an answer you’re looking for.

Initial consultation and assessment
This is a face to face assessment with a specialist surgeon where we will explore your problem and combine your symptoms with a focused examination to formulate an initial plan of action that suits you
Appropriate investigation
Often Spine conditions will require further investigation to confirm the suspected diagnosis and to guide ongoing management, we can arrange this for you as required.
A discussion about the diagnosis and guided decision making
Mr Marjoram will talk you through the available options with an explanation that you can understand. This will allow us to reach a joint decision about the best way forward for you.
Surgery (only if its right for you)
Not everyone will need or want spine surgery and the decision around this is not always clear cut. Every effort will be made to ensure that the decision to proceed with surgery is the right one for you.
Supervised recovery
Of course, there is a recovery period expected after any surgery and this will be explained to you before you agree to proceed. Mr Marjoram will guide you through the recovery pathway and support your return to normal life.

Surgical removal of the protruding portion of the disc that’s putting pressure on the nerve and causing pain. A very common and successful operation in the right patients.

A lower risk and quick recovery procedure that can really help control pain and reduce nerve irritation.
